We believe every individual should have access to a better life
Starting with food security, we are working to secure upward mobility for those living in the margins.
ABLF USA creates radical spaces of inclusion. Our four initiatives unite people in the kitchen or at the table to increase community wellbeing. If one of US is unwell, we're all unwell. Food is our last best hope to connect and build with our neighbours.
By raising critical funds, educating and convening change-makers at our events, we help create a better life for those who need it most with our unique, community-forward programming.
From June to July of 2019, in partnership with Fairshar, we launched a nationwide tour to convene policy and change makers.
We're all about radical hospitality; whether it's gathering policy and change makers to share a meal or creating physical spaces of inclusion at our Plenty of Plates events. We connect people to help combat isolation and heal communities. We connect with local non-profits to execute community programs that decrease isolation and increase food security.
- Host dinners
- Build inclusionary brick-and-mortar venues
- Unite people in their own community centres
Advocate
We advocate for basic human rights and believe that everyone has the right to a better life. This includes a right to nutritious food, purposeful employment, stable housing and holistic healthcare. Our team lives and breathes accessible advocacy.
- ABLF's founder Mark Brand speaks on stages worldwide & in the media to address social inequalities, bringing awareness to issues that need our immediate action
- Facilitating dinners & activations, we hold space for tough conversations that break-bias and inspire positive change for vulnerable communities
Empower
We respect and honour the powers of others. We're capable of being in service to and advocating for one another. ABLF USA designs programs to strengthen community bonds by breaking down social and emotional barriers.
- Facilitate cooking workshops for individuals with limited resources to build knowledge, confidence and creativity to prepare healthy, affordable meals
- Create everyday advocates and call them to action through our Greasy Spoon & Dinner for Good programming
- Partner with corporations to embed social purpose into their ethos including operational & marketing strategies
We hold space for deep conversations about food systems and our access to the good, nutritious kind, as well as what it means to be in community at large.
"If one of us is unwell, we're all unwell. Food is our last best hope to connect and build with our neighbours."
